The first day of 2025 also brought the first mass shooting of the year. Ten young people were injured in a shooting Wednesday night while waiting to get into a private event at a club in Queens, New York, the AP reported. Police are searching for four men who walked up and opened fire on about 15 people between the ages of 16 and 20 who were standing outside Amazura nightclub in Jamaica at about 11:15 p.m. The suspects fired about 30 shots before running to a light-colored sedan with out-of-state plates, according to the New York Police Department. Six women and four men were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. All 10 are expected to survive. Police didn’t immediately know what motivated the shooting, but said it wasn’t terrorism.
