Oscar-nominated actress Amanda Seyfried has revealed she no longer wants to appear in projects that require sex scenes.
Seyfried, 40, said onscreen romance has lost its appeal during a panel Alec Baldwin hosted at the Hamptons International Film Festival, according to People. The actress, who is known for her roles in Mamma Mia and Mean Girls and who earned an Academy Award nomination for her role in 2020’s Mank, told Baldwin, 68, “Our jobs are weird. And as I get older, it gets weirder. We have to be romantic with people that we’re not romantic with.”
“Sometimes it’s great,” she continued. “Sometimes it’s really uncomfortable. But I can’t believe back in the day I was just like, ‘We gotta make out. Great! This is awesome. I know how to make out,’” she added. “And it used to be so fun. It was a non-thing. It was like, ‘I get to make out with a hot person today… And they’re paying me.’” Things have changed for her, however.

“I passed on a show where I would have to have sex all the time because of the sex,” she revealed, without naming the project. “Doesn’t matter [who it’s with]...I don’t wanna do it. I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not into it right now.”

Seyfried shares two children, daughter, Nina, 9, and son, Thomas, 6, with her husband, Thomas Sadoski, 50, from whom she’s been separated for “a while,” they revealed in a joint statement last month. The pair have been married for nine years. “I have kids now who are paying attention to what I do,” Seyfried also told Baldwin. “And so I have to be less of a pushover.”

Seyfried also starred in 2025’s R-rated psychological thriller The Housemaid alongside Sydney Sweeney, which made over $400 million worldwide and finally made Seyfried feel like a “movie star” despite decades of roles, she told Baldwin.
Her work on the film did not include any sex scenes.
